2010 Winter Olympics

Olympic fever has arrived...

For those of you that know me, and for those that are getting to know me, you will know that I am a sports fan. I love and respect all sports! I think sports add so much to our lives. Sports help us build communication skills, competitiveness, flexibility, teamwork, athleticism, balance and most important, they are fun...at least I think!

As we know, the 2010 Winter Olympics are well under way. I will admit, I was not that excited until about the week before they started. Now, I can’t get enough of it...I am constantly following up to see what is happening...it’s almost a distraction but such a positive distraction! The Olympics are really bringing our country together. And some countries are now saying we are too patriotic. Have we ever heard that before? I can’t remember a recent positive event in Canada that has accomplished this.

And when we look at our athletes, I wonder how many of them have said that competing in the Olympics is impossible. And I compare that to what we go through every day. Impossible is nothing but a big word. We have the power to change. When something looks impossible, that is not a fact. It is an opinion. In my opinion, I look at the word impossible as an opportunity to make change. I dare you to re-evaluate what the word impossible means to you. I believe that it is temporary and it is potential...the potential to change.

This is my lesson from the Olympics so far. I hope I can learn more from our athletes...it has been great so far! What have you learned from the 2010 Winter Olympics? GO CANADA GO!
